DAVID BECKHAM SHARES A CIGAR WITH WIFE VICTORIA
WITH his England career up in smoke, a solemn-looking David Beckham was spotted sharing a cigar with his wife in the California sunshine.
Becks, an asthma sufferer, and the former Posh Spice took turns to puff on the cigar while sunbathing on the roof deck of a beach house in Santa Monica.
Beckham barely mustered a smile, however, during their quality family time. The 35-year-old former England captain is said to be devastated at being dropped by Three Lions boss Fabio Capello earlier this month.
Lighting up on a sun lounger on Friday, the snub still seemed to be weighing heavily on his mind.
Beckham and Victoria, 36, smoked and chatted to another couple next to them as their seven-year-old son Romeo was being taught volleyball on the beach. Their other children, Brooklyn, 11, and five-year-old Cruz, played on the sands with the family pet, bulldog Coco.
Beckham, who has played for Manchester United, Real Madrid and AC Milan, was exposed as a secret cigar smoker last year.
He reportedly acquired a taste for luxury hand-rolled Cuban cigars shortly after moving to America in 2007 to play for Los Angeles Galaxy.
The midfield maestro, famed for keeping super-fit, has apparently been banned from smoking in his Los Angeles mansion and has to sneak into the garden instead.
Despite claiming they do not affect his asthma, he was spotted coughing violently and using an inhaler after Galaxy’s cup final loss to rivals Real Salt Lake last November.
