Grand Prix Cigars
SOUTHBURY - Taking pieces from family trips all over the U.S. and Europe, mixed with a passion for cigars and for friends and family to spend time together, Tony and Anne Armeno opened Grand Prix Cigars at 1455 Southford Road on April 17.
"Our mission for the store has many parts," Tony told Voices. "Along with our family's enthusiasm for auto racing, a culmination of the bits and pieces of a life time, our desire to open the store was based on creating a welcoming space for people to enjoy, relax and learn about cigars."
Grand Prix Cigars welcomes customers with a crisp temperature, soft tan earth tone colors, palm planters, large mahogany humidors, cigar lockers for rent, gift displays, a smoking lounge and personalized customer service.
Tony and Anne felt it was paramount that they have a comfortable lounge and that it would complete the experience.
Grand Prix Cigars offers a fine selection of 50 cigars. Twenty infused flavored cigars are kept in a separate humidor.
The mahogany, cedar-lined cases were custom-built to ensure the proper humidity levels.
"The humidification system in this store is called Humidifresh," Tony explained. "Distilled water is used in this system."
The specialized humidors are monitored daily for temperature and humidity. A perfect 70 degree temperature and 70 percent humidity are optimum conditions for cigars.
The store has brought much joy to the Armeno family. Tony is currently in his 24 year in law enforcement.
"I feel so blessed to have the family and career that I have. I'm so fortunate that my wife, Anne and our son Anthony, help run the store and are so full of enthusiasm. It is wonderful to meet the people who come into the store."
Grand Prix Cigars offers consultations and many cigar accessories, humidification systems, travel humidors, home humidors, Zippo lighters and the Max Benjamin Mini Cigar Bar line.
Grand Prix Cigars offers monthly dinners called the 601 Cigar Dinner. Three premium cigars are spotlighted around a delicious evening meal.
The next dinner is scheduled for Tuesday, August 5, at Testo's Ristorante. Those interested are invited to call Grand Prix Cigars at 203-262-4427 for further information. Seating is limited.
